Do Not Compare, Don’t Compete.

It’s easy to become caught up in the never-ending loop of comparison and competition in today’s fast-paced, achievement-driven environment. We are always comparing our success and value to others, whether on social media, at work, or in our personal life. But, in reality, comparing and competing simply leads to discontent and a lack of self-fulfillment. This is not how we are meant to live as we  were uniquely designed by God to do something different.

Dr Myles Munroe said,” Every human being was created to accomplish something specific that no one else can accomplish”. I strongly believe this is a truth we must all understand. When we compete and compare who and what we are with other people, we lose focus on the power and uniqueness of our gifts. Comparison diminishes our self-esteem and blinds us to our own unique strengths and accomplishments. Someone once said ,”If the enemy cannot get you to sin, he distracts you”. Comparison is one of the tools the enemy uses to shift our attention on what matters, which is to make our lives count and make a difference in our generation.

Sometimes in our quest to compete and keep up with others, we end up hooping between tasks and goals. Every year we find ourselves pursuing a different goal that doesn’t feed into the life we desire to live in the next 5-10 years. Instead of moving between jobs and companies, I believe every job we find ourselves in should put us on a track towards a goal that is bigger than the present one so that we can fulfill our vision.

Instead of focusing on what others are doing or achieving, redirect your energy towards self-improvement and personal growth.  Appreciate the skills and talents that make you who you are, and work on developing them further. Remember, your journey is incomparable and unparalleled.

We often forget what God created us to accomplish. It might have been because we shared our vision with people who discouraged us or we started looking more into what others were doing that we felt our life didn’t matter. We need to always remember that our life matters and it is about time we start working on making our vision come to life. Just as a flower doesn’t think to compare itself to those around it, it just blooms. Don’t compete and Don’t compare.
